JUST A LITTLE MISC. INFORMATION:

Mariposa is a rural area with only an approximate 16,000 population. Most of the people live here for the beautiful scenery, moderate weather and large pieces of property for some of the most reasonable prices in Calif.. Most of the county is zoned for a minimum of 5 acres. There are a few city lots, and a few early developments with 1-3 acre parcels and of course Yosemite Park which is slightly larger. Most of the people moving to Mariposa are looking for the quiet country life without being very far from the modern conveniences. Some of these may be a few miles farther away than in the city, but the traffic is a bit less and the scenery much nicer. (I am expressing my opinion, you can form your own too.).. 

As you will note if you read on, My design experience has  been in two very different locations in Calif. All of the homes that I have designed for this area have been country/ranch with a bit of the old days mixed in. I am referring to such things as the type & shape of door and window trim/casings, and LOTS of covered porches and decks. Siding is the norm rather than stucco and roofing is usually dimensional composition. 

I create the designs on a computer CAD system using the latest materials and technology. These "Engineered" materials are much better than dimensional lumber and using farm grown trees helps save the environment. 

Another item of interest: There are a fair number of "Barns" or extra large garages around this county. We have a our share of  vehicle restoring activities and I would guess that we probably have one of the larger number of tractors per county population in Ca.. Most of the homes have private wells and septic systems. We have all types of roads; blacktop, gravel, dirt, steep, rough and usually dusty in the summer. On the other hand there is not yet one single stop light in the county and of course no incorporated city. We also have many roads with names from the early families here; from the Park; names after plants and animals of the area and many "no name" roads.. some off other no name roads.
